For some families, it’s like a sigh of relief. No more packed lunches. No more morning rush. No more “did you do your homework?” or the last minute "I need you to sign this for tomorrow" on repeat.
But for many caregivers, the end of the school year brings something else: a total shift in rhythm, new or additional responsibilities, and maybe a bit of overwhelm.
It’s easy to fall into the trap of managing everyone else’s needs while putting your own on pause. But here's the thing: caregivers need care, too. Especially during times of transition. You can't pour from an empty cup.
At Suunta, we see this season for what it is: a mix of relief, exhaustion, flexibility, and stress. And if you're feeling all of that at once? Nothing's wrong with you. If anything, it's very normal to feel all the mixed emotions.
Small routines still count. You don’t need an all-out, fancy, color-coded summer schedule. But a few anchor points like a quiet morning coffee, meditation before bed, walking outside for even just a few minutes, or a set screen-free hour can bring stability to the chaos.
Boundaries are a form of self-respect. Saying "no" to another late-night event or extra carpool run doesn’t make you selfish. It makes you sustainable.
You’re allowed to take up space. Your needs don’t disappear just because the kids are home more. What would it look like to give yourself permission to rest, too?
Support is not a weakness. Therapy, coaching, even a regular check-in with a trusted friend are tools you can use.
Even the good ones. And sometimes the best thing we can do for the people we care for is to care for ourselves first. So if you’re heading into summer already feeling worn out, we invite you to pause and remember that you’re not alone. You don't have to do anything alone.
Our team at Suunta is here to support you through life’s transitions—whether it’s summer stress, burnout, or just needing someone to help you re-calibrate.
Because your care matters, too.
